Jamaican Jerk Chicken

Ingredients

  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 3 green onions, chopped
  • 2 habaneros, seeded and chopped
  • 6 clove garlic, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon five-spice powder
  • 1 tablespoon allspice berries, coarsely ground
  • 1 tablespoon black pepper, coarsely ground
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon nutmeg, freshly grated
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 2 pound chicken (breast, thighs, whatever)

Instructions

  1. 1.In a food processor, add onion, green onion, habaneros, garlic, and spices. Process to a paste. With the machine on low, slowly add the soy sauce and oil until well combined.
  2. 2.Add the chicken and marinade to a container and marinate for several hours (ideally overnight).
  3. 3.Bring the chicken to room temperature first for better cooking results! Start the grill and cook chicken through. Note that the air fryer isn't great for this marinade, as it gets pretty charred around the edges - grill is recommended!
